City Square Mall (CSM) feels different these days. Beyond its rows of shops, new pockets of space now invite visitors to pause, meet and spend time – whether over a meal, at a workshop or in the midst of greenery.
The transformation follows a S$50 million (US$37.5 million) renovation carried out in three phases since September 2023. In total, 26,000 sq ft of gross floor area has been added, with select areas redesigned to function as “third places” – social spaces that sit between home and work.
The refreshed mall was officially relaunched on Mar 10, marking a new chapter in its journey from the former New World Amusement Park into a retail and lifestyle hub. The event also introduced CSM’s updated logo, enhanced programming and a new sustainability mascot, Eco Mama.

A GREEN-LED REFRESH
Sustainability shaped much of the renovation at Singapore’s first eco-mall. Dismantled handrails were repurposed into benches and feature walls, while bamboo chopsticks and recycled PET bottles were incorporated into wall claddings in lift lobbies and common areas.
The upgraded City Green park – a 49,000 sq ft urban park integrated with the mall – now features open communal spaces and two nature-inspired playgrounds, creating room for families and visitors to relax and recharge between shopping stops.
That sustainability focus extends to an installation created from recycled materials, which entered the Singapore Book of Records as the largest art display of recycled milk bottles. Also listed was an artwork by multidisciplinary artist Imran Mohamed Ishak at Level 5 Discovery Square – recognised as the largest display of sequin art.

SPACES TO GATHER AND CONNECT
Across the mall, new shared spaces are woven into the redesigned layout. Gastro Square on Level 4 spans 24,000 sq ft, bringing together dining options with areas for workshops and live performances.
Green Square on Basement 1 remains a popular gathering point for students and youths, hosting community pop-ups, school-led programmes and outdoor movie screenings, while also serving as a space for seasonal fairs.
Connect @ City Square Mall, located on Level 4 and Basement 2, is home to five social service agencies supporting children and families through counselling, mental health talks and early childhood programmes.
MORE WAYS TO SHOP, DINE AND PLAY
The reconfiguration introduces a refreshed tenant mix, organised into clusters for kids, home and living, athleisure and lifestyle.
With more room to explore, visitors can try a wider range of experiences. Families can bake and decorate their own treats at Home Baking Day, browse Umistrong for art supplies and inspiration, or take studio-style portraits at Photoism.
Younger visitors can head to Giggle Jungle by Yooland and Airzone for indoor play, or try escape room challenges at Inmers.
Kok Sen Restaurant, a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient known for its zi char dishes, is among the new dining additions at City Square Mall.
Dining options have expanded, with additions such as modern Australian eatery The Fat Sparrow, Canton Paradise, Chinese noodle specialist LeNu and Korean eatery Hankang Pocha. At Gastro Square, diners will find Chef Vo Quoc Vietnamese Cuisines, Sichuan eatery Xiao Jiao Tian and the first mall outlet of Kok Sen Restaurant, known for its zi char dishes.
The line-up continues to include familiar names such as Streats Cafe, Super Dario Lasagne and Lai Lai Taiwan Casual Dining.
For those stopping by during the work week, lunchtime promotions include a S$9.90 weekday deal at selected eateries (now till Apr 30, while stocks last), and one hour of free weekday parking between noon and 2pm (now till Jun 30, excluding public holidays).
LeNu is known for its handmade la mian, offered in both soup and dry styles with a range of meat toppings.
EVENTS AND OFFERS TO LOOK OUT FOR
Beyond shopping and dining, the mall’s expanded spaces host activities throughout the year. Regular eco-workshops introduce sustainability concepts in family-friendly formats, while the Eco Stamp Rally encourages shoppers to collect stamps at designated green stops and redeem rewards.
Seasonal events add to the line-up. At City Green park, Uncle Ringo’s carnival brings classic rides and games from now to Apr 12. Meanwhile, visitors can use their SG Culture Pass to join a heritage trail curated by Hidden Heritage Singapore, tracing the site’s entertainment legacy until May 10.
For those looking to make the most of their visit, ongoing promotions offer added value. Shoppers can receive a floral thermal flask with a minimum spend of S$150, as well as S$5 CDL and S$5 merchant e-vouchers with a minimum spend of S$230. Until Apr 30, shoppers who spend a minimum of S$30 in a single receipt can also receive a S$10 dining e-voucher. Terms and conditions apply.
With redesigned spaces, expanded dining and a full calendar of events, CSM offers returning visitors something new to explore – and gives first-timers a reason to drop by.
